I was born and bred in Queens, New York City to Spanish immigrant parents. My cooking is heavily influenced by Catalan cuisine since most of my family hails from the Catalonia region of Spain. I am an avid world traveler and lifelong believer in exploring all of one’s passions to the fullest.
When not traveling to far away places for my work, cooking or obsessing about Spanish food, I happily devote my time to my family and consulting for nonprofit international development organizations.

At Kitchen Simpatico, you’ll find everything from fast and easy paellas, to tapas, flans and sparkling sangrias. I explore the rich history and stories behind the recipes, food and spices, that will bring all the flavor and mystique of Spain into your own kitchen. I take a no-nonsense approach to cooking by using ingredients that are readily available and when possible, keeping the recipes short and sweet.
Food has always been a window to our culture and society. As a first-generation American, it was how I first connected to my rich Spanish history. When I was a child, I would ask the cooks in my household about the origins of the meal they were making, and when and why it was popular. I was always eager to understand my culture through the delicious food I was being served. Over the years, I went from not cooking much to cooking in fast, furious spells. Looking back, the times I desired to be in the kitchen were the times I needed to connect to what was simple about life, to the memories that comforted me, and to a culture that I identified with deeply. Growing up, every simmering pot meant a new story was told, a secret revealed or a memory shared. Learning to perfect my own paella was as much about cooking rice as it was about making the traditions I grew up with, my own. Having started a family, I want to pass on these traditions and make new ones along the way. I created this space to document this journey, to cook the food my ancestors cooked, to learn to make it well, and then share it with you. I am not a trained chef but a home cook who is happily learning by doing.
